Dog and Master metaphor

Metaphor?  What metaphor?  See below…

DOG ON A RUN

Dog’s on a run
fast and faster.

Dog’s not harassed—
he’s training his master.

Dog sees a squirrel,
then—disaster!

Dog makes a turn,
tripping his master

Gentle dog’s day is not going well.
Helpful dog’s master is madder than h…

So, you say, where’s the metaphor?  There’s no metaphor in this poem!

But what if the whole story is a metaphor?

My friend, the CEO of a company, is supposed to be the boss, right?  But I watched one day as her clients ran her ragged…and that’s what this poem is about, maybe not for my readers, but for me.
